FSX performance with Nvidia 7900GT

Featured Replies

Hi,I'm new user of FSX, and I'm experiencing very strange behavior :The FR of the game is very, very, low, (I mean unusable) as long as I'm running on the floor (1 or 2 frame each 10sec !!).As soon as I succed to take off, the FR up to something almost playable (but still low), arround 5 frames per sec.If I land, at the moment the wheels touch the ground, the FR fall again. And this, despite all values, even if they are all on the lowest, this change nothing.BUT the strangest thing is that, one time (sniff), I don't know why, I launch the game and miracle ! all was perfectly smooth, fluent, beautiful. I change the parameter to alomst all to High, and it was still very confortable. But the next restart of the game, and I was fall to the same nightmare than before :-(I've tried all optimization found on the net, without any noticable impact. My feeling is that there is something wrong with the GPU, because the CPU is not very loaded (except the time when all where fine).I don't understand what happend.. please, any help ?My configuration is :CPU : Athlon 64 X2 4400+RAM : 2 GoGPU : Nvidia 7900 GTOSound : Creative Audigy 2Best regards

Try some other games, especially GPU-loaded ones like a first person shooter. If they work OK, then chances are the hardware is doing fine.Check your drivers to insure no conflicts and/or problems - remove all and update to latest versions.Backup your FSX.CFG file and then delete it. Let FSX recreate a brand new one and see if that makes any changes for you. I think you're on the right track with either a hardware or software conflict issue, as I have a similar system without the major problems you are experiencing. Keep us informed!-Greg

Thanks a lot for the answer. In fact I have already re-install the game.Do you think it's possible the conf file was still in place after the removall of the game ?Another clue : on my PC, I have install Windows Vista RC1. I test the game under it, and it's working great in windows mode. there is little artefacts, I have to resize the windows in order to make the content to appear, and I can't used my joystick, but the FR is very good.. too bad.So, I supppose it's not an hardware issue.. ?

AMAZING !I found the solution in another forum. In fact, my probleme was due to the usage of a SideWinder force feedback Pro.I just had to turn the force feedback option Off, and that was it ! Games is perfectly smooth.I even can set all cursors to full right except some in the scenery, and still be very playable :-)Thanks again for having took time to help me.Regards.
