How to insert more custom res settings ? - nVidia based

Featured Replies

I have successfully inserted a custom resolution setting of 1680x1050 for my widescreen LCD using the nVidia Control Panel of drivers 91.47 for my 7900 GTO card with the ADD (res) function. However, I cannot add two more custom settings that I know are standard for 16:10 aspect ratio monitors because the control panel produces an annoying popup saying that it cannot be added. If I "un-hide" the option in the nVidia driver control panel "Hide modes this monitor cannot display", one of the two resolutions I wish to add appears.I understand there is an app called PowerStrip that allows you to instal custom resolutions but I am wondering if I do that, is there any risk I could damage my monitor with res settings that I force onto the video card? I am puzzled by this since it's for the 24" LCD and I would have thought that it should accomodate a vast combo of possible resolutions.Appreciate any guidance on this stuff, thanks!JS
