AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core Socket 939 Processor

Featured Replies

what do you folks think about this chip, i have been using amd for sometime , do any of you folks think this is a good chip to get for FSX for now.Thanks......................Robert

Robert:In a word...no, see my specs below. If you are looking for a new chip, be advised that the CoreDuos blow any AMD chips out of the water and FSX STILL struggles badly on all of them (that is unless you only fly in the mountains and don't go to any cities).I don't know what you are running now, but if you are getting this chip in hopes of running FSX then you should wait and see what the Aces team comes up with for SP1 and later their dual-core patch before making a final decision or it *could* be $$$ down the drain. If you are absolutely going to buy a chip regardless then get a DuoCore since they are the fastest CPUs right now.

Thank you for your reply, i will wait anyway after downloading a couple of pieces of software that shuts everything down that is not needed and it manages your ram for optimum performance, im running a eight monitor set up and and my main com is a 3800+ 64, 7800 gsos vid , 2 gig ram, 74 gig sata 10,000, before i was getting 10 to 16 fps, and for some reason after loading and runnig the software im getting with auto gen to medium im getting 17 to 20 fps , so that also tells me i have to have a balanced system.that means there is hope to get way above average if you get the right components , no bottle necking .thanks..............Robert
