January 5, 200719 yr Hi, i've create a new computer and I added a new hard drive. There i've installed FSX but in my old hard drive (that is in my new computer also) I have Flight Simulator installed too and my father in his computer has FSX installed, so i'm not going to use the FSX in my old hard drive but i've it installed there because i'm saving some files but i cant unistall this fsim because i installed it in my old windows XP (now I've Vista). So my problem is that i cant activate FSX again on my computer... and i want to know if is any file that i could copy from my old FSX (in my old hard drive) to the new FSX to activate it.The reason why i've installed my fsx in different hard drive is because the new hard drive is Sata II and is faster than my old one. Thanks!Miguel Zafra.
January 5, 200719 yr I am having a hard time understanding exactly what you did but the bottom line is you want to reactivate FSX on your new system. You cannot copy a "product activation" file from your old FSX installation to the new install/system. You'll have to go through the reinstallation and reactivation procedures since activation looks at your current system and catalogs various hardware installed. If any of the hardware on the new system changed (and it did in your case), you'll have to get it reactivated after reinstalling the product. You cannot install one copy of FSX on several computers. A copy is required for each computer/hard drive. For a complete and in depth article on FSX activation, you should visit the FSInsider site - http://www.fsinsider.com/ and click on the product activation article. It provides the answers to your questions.Best regards,Jim
January 6, 200719 yr G'day Miguel,>The reason why i've installed my fsx in different hard drive is >because the new hard drive is Sata II and is faster than my old one.Don't expect to see any great improvement in performance. IDE, ATA33, ATA100, SATA, SATAII are elecronic data transfer rates. By far the greatest contributor to time in a disk drive operation is the time for the mechanical components to reposition. (seek time) So even though SATA has a tranfer rate of 150 GB/sec and SATA II has a transfer rate of 300 GB/sec, because the digital tranfer time is only a very small portion of the total disk data transfer any increase in disk drive performance will be almost negligible. IMHO if you are after faster disk drive performance you would be better off using a WD Raptor drive which only uses a small 2 1/2 inch disk and rotates at 10,000 rpm to try and speed up the mechanical portion of the total time. Can't help you with reactivation - sorry. I've had FSX sitting on the shelf for nearly 2 months as I'm in the middle of building a complete new system (piece by piece) and won't install until I'm completely finished.
