Solved - FSX "Memory could not be written" Crash

Featured Replies

I got FSX as a Christmas present. However, I had this FSX crash problem within minutes into my first flight after installing FSX:"The instruction at "0x7c809783" memory at "0x15db2fe4". The memory could not be "written". Click on ok to terminate the program."This happened whenever I tried to display the GPS and frequently when I tried to load an aircraft other than the default ultralight.Assuming that something was wrong with my system, I tried lots of things based on forum searches and suggestions from community members. However, they never solved the problem. What did solve it for me earlier this week was un-installing FSX and re-installing it while running under a safe boot procedure to avoid corruption by some helpful but unidentified program of mine.Instructions:(1) Go to http://support.microsoft.com/ph/11941(2) Look at the item "The game stops responding or closes unexpectedly when you start or play a Microsoft Game" under Latest News(3) Go to Method 3.(4) Make sure that you use the procedure described in the KB 331796 to enter a Safe Mode before the reinstall i.e. Run msconfig, choose selective startup, clear Process System.ini, clear Process Win.ini, clear Load Startup items, etc. BTW - This was the first time that I had encountered this "flavor" of safe mode.I hope that this may help others who have been as frustrated by this problem as I was.
