February 15, 200719 yr Any rec's for above when using a E6600 core duo 2. Also, what would be a good graphics card in unison with this motherboard. I want to upgrade in the future and that is why I'm asking for a board that will deliver possibly a couple years from now also....Regards,gremel
February 15, 200719 yr Asus, DFI, Biostar, MSI - they're all good, as long as you stay with a brand-name. If you really want a board that delivers in 1-2 years then there's only one, the nVidia 8800GTX or GS, because it's the only board that supports DX10. However, I would wait for the contender from ATi, which is due out very soon. It is supposed to blow away the 8800GTX by quite a margin. Be prepared to drop a good $500 for a state-of-the-art board. If not, then go for a $250 board (ATi X1950XT) and plan to upgrade again every year.Pat
February 16, 200719 yr I would give MSI a miss right now on any Conroe Motherboard.P965 Neo-F is a joke - trust me, I have one!975X PE965 Platinum Both terrbible overclockers with poor BIOS support.I would look at the Gigabyte DS3 or ASUS P5B-E / Deluxe. If you need SLI, any of the 650i boards offer good performance at a good price. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
February 16, 200719 yr Thanks for the inputs. I went with the Asus P5B-E board. Hope it performs as well as the write-ups...Regards,gremel
February 19, 200719 yr Hi gremel, I'm also looking for a motherboard to be a home for an E6600. In case you will be running multiple cards, be weary that many "SLI" motherboards may only support 16X accelleration when in SLI, otherwise you might get only 8X and 8X or 16X and 1X accelleration when not in SLI mode. I'm going to be using two 7950GT's which aren't DirectX10 compatible because I won't be using FSX anytime soon.
February 19, 200719 yr The Asus P5N32-E SLi nForce 680iis an excellent Motherboard and will work really well with nVidia GeForce 8800GTX or GTS.If your budget won't stretch that far work your way down from the 7950GX2, 7950GT, 7900GTX, 7900GT, 7900GSRegardsJim
