A lil vista help

Featured Replies

A new machine installed vista utilmate... works great. FSX has been awesome with configuration. So the problem, I added a new harddrive today(so I could start adding megasceneries) I go to start computer and it is like video card not there, no signal... boot drive doesnt respond just a blank screen. A couple times I have tried to add hardware and this seems to happen. All I did was add a New Hardrive... why is vista so sensitive? My boot drive is sata and the drive i added was sata also is there something i am missing... i forgot to ask vista permission first i guess? Any insight would be helpfulMy specs Intel 6600, 2 gigs 6400 mem, Asus PW5DH m/b, Evga 8800 gts Thanks in advance, Steve

Steve, Sounds like the same problem I had but all I did was try to bring my system out of "sleep" mode yesterday and had no video signal. I've concluded that my card is shot and I'm doing an RMA to return it (took me out of the RTW race!!). But if you haven't already done so, double-check your PCI-E power cable (both ends), take the card out and put it back in, and try a different monitor if possible. Try to tell if the PC is continuing to boot. For example, do you get any POST errors and/or does it seem like the PC continues to boot based on HDD activity. Good luck.Dan

Thanks Dan.... turns out after writing for help, I took off cover and retraced steps(again) and turns out the label for ide cable actually got tucked into the memory slot when i added memory. The computer started up and now after almost ten minutes windows finally starts up, really strange behavior for a fresh install on new system.A few times when adding in new hardware with vista the vid card was not recongized but i changed monitors and i dont know if this changed anything but the signal worked and then i went to my orignal monitor while windows started up, no other ill effects. So Thanks for the reply.... figured it out FSX so beautiful with this system. Thanks againSteve
