How do you save Nvidia Overclock Settings?

Featured Replies

On my new PNY 8800GTX video card, I cannot save my overclocked settings by the following process:1. Click Start2. Click All Programs3. Click NVIDIA Corporation4. Click Control Panel5. Click Performance6. Click Adjust GPU Settings7. Click custom clock frequencies (and/or Direct fan control)8. Move sliders to any custom settings (even the lowest) and test9. Click apply10. Click exitAs long as the computer is running, I can retain these overclocked settings. If I restart the computer, the NVIDIA Control Panel defaults back to Factory shipped clock freqencies (no overclocking) and Automatic fan control negating my overclocked settings. Is there any way to overclock these cards on a permanent basis where the defaults do not reset upon restarting the computer? One other note: If I click the Find Optimal function, both of my monitors go to a solid color screen (different colors) and the computer is locked up requireing a restart, which again goes back to the factory defaults (as I am sure it should do with the corrupt displays).GREAT CARD!Thanks:RTH

Yet another shortcoming/bug in the nvidia software. *rolls eyes*You have to use a third party utility like rivatuner or ati tool to do this. Ntune will not save fan or overclock settings in the xp driver after reboot. Ntune won't even allow any overclocking at all on my 7900gt in vista with any driver past 97.46. I have yet to try vista on my machine with the 8800gts due to the state of their drivers. I've been pulling my hair out in vista on the machine with the 7900gt and I have no desire to double my 'fun'.

Thanks Dave:I suspected as much and my next step was to try RivaTuner. Naturally, I deleted it along with all other old drivers, utilities etc. for video cards before I installed the new card. I'll download and reinstall it and give it a whirl. Thanks again.RTH

I'm a bit ignorant about your setup since I don't have an Nvidia series 8 card, and I overclock my Gainward 7600GT using the "Xpertool" utility that came with the card. Anyway, are you sure that you don't need to set up an Nvidia profile before you can save the overclock settings?
