NVIDA Beta Driver 158.18

Featured Replies

Hi All:I see that Nvida has a new Beta driver noted above.I am currently running Vista Ultimate, and when I go to download the newest driver I get a warning indicating that Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software. Can someone advise if there would be a problem if I go ahead and install this beta driver.I would be downloading from the Nvida site.Tks. for any assistance.Kenny G.

There are a couple threads below on this subject. As for why Windows can't verify them, its because they are beta and beta drivers aren't certified with Microsoft. Basically, they haven't completed M$'s QA program so M$ can't recommend them.As for whether you should install them, that's your decision, but I think a majority would advise "no". Basically there are some fixes and performance improvements, but it sounds like there are also some new bugs and that performance for FSX under Vista hasn't changed much, if at all. Basically, unless the release notes for the 158 drivers mention a fix to a bug that has been causing you in particular problems, you probably don't stand to gain much, at least as far as FSX goes.

Tks for your reply. Will take your advise.Kenny G.

I installed them today and to be honest no real difference for FSX. Other games seem to be running faster and no immediate problems found, I notice plenty of other people are having major problems with these drivers however so perhaps best to wait for final release.
