Does anyone have FSX run then dies afterwards?? Vista is the OS

I have Dual core 6300, 4GB DDR2 800mhz, ABit AB9 PRO 800 FSB, ATI Radeon x1050 256mb PCIE -- whether running missions or free flights, FSX shuts down shortly there after.Has anyone seen this? Is SP1 supposed to adddress stuff like this?

I wouldn't count on it. SP1 fixes bugs, but ACES or M$ is specifying what the bugs are at this point. However, I have not seen a lot of complaints about crashing and demands to fix said problem since I've joined the forum, so my guess is even if this problem is a bug in FSX it may not be widespread enough to be addressed in SPI. My guess is the weak like is something else about your system, not FSX.It sounds like you need to contact tech support.

Mine used to shut down in the middle of a flight when doing things such as changing views or something but that was rare and fixed with new video driver releases from ATI. Now FSX will occasionally CTD (Crash to Desktop) after changing parameters when preparing for a flight, or when I hit "Fly Now", but not during a flight. I'm pretty sure this is still caused by some glitch in the video driver so I'm patiently waiting for new ones. Seems like as a Vista user we're always waiting for that next driver release. I guess there's an off-chance that SP1 might fix these types of issues but I wouldn't hold my breath. You might also search through the Crash to Desktop forum which is placed a few lines down from this one.

Thanks for responding... looks like I'll need to research this further.. You're flying on a 42" LCD - WOW!

Are you seeing shutdowns or other anomalies with any other programs? I've been having lots of boot up problems with my AB9 Pro, and sometimes when I'm lucky enough to get it to post, I will have frequent, non-repeatable application errors in FSX, or Internet Explorer, etc.Check uGuru and see if the voltages and temps are running within specs. Maybe try manually setting the memory times in BIOS. I'd suggest using the Abit forums, as well, but Abit USA has been down for about a week now.
