WHQL 158.24 Driver

Featured Replies

Hi Fellow Simmers.I went to the Nvida site and installed the latest driver 158.24.I then loaded up ASX then my FSD aircraft and left the room for approximately 20 min. When I returned I found my Screen was Dark and text at the bottom indicating that my screen saver could not open up.The only way I was able to get back to my Desk Top was to Ctr.Alt.Del the exit out of ASX which after trying to restart ASX placed it in my Task bar which is another story.I then went back to the Nvidia site and went to the Nvidia Beta Driver Download, and after it checked my computer settings I received a message that I should go back to my last driver 158.18 which I did.I now have everything back to what it was before installing the latest driver. My Specs are:Duo Core, Vista Ultimate, 22" Wide Screen ACER monitor.I made no changes to any settings as I am not very puter literate probably as a result of my age:)Just thought I would drop a line and let others know the results I received with the new driver and FSX.Kenny G.

Strange for sure! I installed the latest drivers yesterday and have had no problems with them. I also have ASX and no crashes even with the screensaver running. It sounds like the previous drivers did not completely uninstall properly and/or the new 154.24 drivers did not install correctly.Best regards,Jim

Hi EveryoneDid a driver 158.24 reinstall and appears to work as advertised.Tks. for the comments.Kenny G.

These drivers seem to have improved my fps somewhat. That would be all fine and dandy if my screen wasn't blacking out every 3 seconds. After flying for 3 seconds (nvidia display has stopped working but has recovered), this happens every 3-5 seconds, it truly ####### me off. I've got this same issue with the last 3 nvidia driver releases, I think ATI is calling my name.

"After flying for 3 seconds (nvidia display has stopped working but has recovered), this happens every 3-5 seconds"According to pages 13 and 17 of the 158.24 Release Notes, this issue was fixed for both the Single GPU and in SLI mode. I was getting this error repeatedly too and so far I have not encountered the problem. I definitely wasn't getting the error after 3 seconds though and it usually occurred after using FSX for at least 30 minutes. The following NVIDIA link might be of interest to you: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=31913. You might want to report the bug to NVIDIA following the directions in the above link. You may also have a bad install of the drivers or FSX is corrupted (scenery.cfg or fsx.cfg).Best regards,Jim
