June 28, 200718 yr Gentlemen,I am on XP with FSX SP1 and I am being buggered by a really annoying issue. I can not turn vsync on when in windowed mode. It works flawless in fullscreen, but when in windowed mode I get a lot of tearing.I am currently using the newest official non-beta driver from NVidia (94.24) on my 7900 GS, but have also tried a zillion different beta drivers. I've also tried adding the newly introduced lines to the CFG file (ForceFullScreenVSync=True, ForceVSync=True in the DISPLAY section), but alas.... nothing happens. I have also tried to force vsync in the driver using NHancer, but to no effect. So would any of you have an idea of what I can try next? Thanks in advance, Poul
June 30, 200718 yr The only time this is an issue is if you try and force frame rates beyond the vsync and have unlimited set in the fps slider. Are you telling us that you can actually get 60 fps or more out of FSX? If no, then limit the fps according to the quality of your computer, vsync will then comply.Allcott
June 30, 200718 yr Author Allcott, thanks for your reply. No, I cannot get anywhere near 60 fps in FSX, more like 20-35 depending on settings. I have discovered that if I lock the fps to the exact half of the monitor's refresh rate (and I mean EXACT, not one frame higher or lower) I completely reduce microstutters. However, regardless of where I put the fps slider I cannot get vsync to work in windowed mode, resulting in the horrible tearing. I could of course run in fullscreen which works flawless, but I also have a second monitor I would like to utilize for other applications (SimCharts etc.). Both monitors are LCDs.Poul
July 1, 200718 yr Poul,Try to put these two lines below the section in your fsx.cfg:ForceFullScreenVSync=TrueForceVSync=TrueThe tip was posted on Phils blog when SP1 was released.Hope it helps.Ulf B
