July 9, 200718 yr Hi all.I am about to buy a new PC solely for playing FSX. I have done some research on what hardware is appropriate, still, I have no Idea what I can expect. Thing is, I am planning to run TH2GO in all it's glory. I will list what I am about to buy...ABIT IN9 32x MAX (nForce 680 SLI Chipsatz)Intel
July 9, 200718 yr Whilst I don't sport a comparable system, I can tell you that you will be disappointed if you want to run FSX with max sliders and complex addons - that combination will bring ANY system you could put together today down to single digit FPS.Haxing said that, your proposed system is nicely balanced and will run FSX with most sliders maxed (except AI, autogen, water and bloom) and complex addons very nicely indeed. Even with my lesser system, I can run the LDS 767 in VC view, spanned across 2 LCDs at 3360x1050, AS6.5 weather and 80%+ AI at- high settings at complex airports, - ultra high settings at standard and less concentrated airports and transit over populated areas, and - sliders maxed (except bloom) for transit over medium-low population densities and water. These combinations give me about 15 FPS worst case and 20-30 FPS for the most part, which I am pretty happy with.Apart from tempering your expectations with this, I'd suggest waiting until the big Intel price drop on 22 July before purchasing your processor at least.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
July 9, 200718 yr Thanks for you reply Gary. You know I would wait until better systems become cheaper (or FSX code better - unlikely), but I am so dying to get in that cockpit again. You know Ive been playing FSX on my 20" iMac (2 Ghz Core Duo, 2 Gig, Ati X1600 - so overclocked I wonder the #### thing didnt melt yet) for months. I have 5 FPS at KLAX or other big Airports but i STILL play it that way (most stuff maxed LOL). It is very funny since I used to refuse any game that doesnt do 30FPS on the hardware I play it on.I understand you can bring every computer to its knees. I realized when I installed CS757 - it like divided my FPS by 3. I would be happy to play with maxed autogen and 50% in all traffic settings, no bloom and no shadows, no CS757 needed lol. Finally I am kind of mad because I know for a fact FSX would run smoothly if todays hardware was supported in a appropriate way. Its a shame we probably wont see fixes for these issues...
July 10, 200718 yr RobertWhich 19" monitor are you planning on? Is it Widescreen? What resolution do you plan for the monitors?I want to buy THTGo also but am uncertain about monitor selection.Your specific thoughts would be appreciated.ThanksFrank
July 10, 200718 yr Well, the maximum (single) resolution TH2GO supports is 1280*1024, so thats what I am gonna go with. As 3 displays is already very wide, I do not think widescreen displays would make sense. Also, standard 19" flatscreen monitors are cheap, you can easily get three of them for about 600$. If you want to spend more, check out the pictures further down this page: http://www.areadvd.de/lm/Multimedia/ege_teil2.shtml

Anything larger is a waste as you have to run the monitors at sub-optimal resolution. Alternatively if you want to GO LARGE use a TH2Go with 3 projectors!RegardsJim
