FSX graphics help

Featured Replies

I have an issue that I'm hoping someone can help me with. I have a pretty powerful computer and the graphics look great, but the meshes aren't loading until I'm right on top of the area. I have my Level of detail area set to large. Last night we flew over the Grand Canyon and I was not too far from it and the canyon walls were very smooth and didn't look fully loaded. Here's a screenshot.http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/4221/20...22922921ww9.jpghttp://img166.imageshack.us/img166/3707/20...04156156mq4.jpgHere are my settings:http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/7774/settingspf5.jpgI had my texture mesh resolution and texture res set all the way to the right when I took those screens. Someone said to lower it so the PC isn't working too hard and I saw no change.I have 2GB of PC6400 RAM and a DC6600 processor along with a BFG 8800GTX vid card.Someone flying with me that same night took this screen and it looks better than mine (he has similar specs).http://img454.imageshack.us/my.php?image=2...03131419tb4.jpg

Your system should easily be able to handle what you are asking of it. What sort of FPS are you getting? I have found setting the FPS limiter severely reduces the FPS I get. eg. if I am getting 30 FPS without it set, I am lucky to see 18 FPS if I set the FPS limit to anything other than unlimited. Try unlocking your FPSThe only other thing I can think of is to try uninstalling UTX (or disabling it if you can), and see what the Grand Canyon looks like on stock FSX. And welcome to AVSIM :-)Gary

Thanks for the tips. I did disable UTX and still nothing. I'll try unlocking the FPS next. I currently have it set to 25.Edit: unlocked FPS and still nothing. I have no idea why this is doing it. Everything else looks great.

Also, since this issue does not seem to be directly hardware related, you may want to post in the main FSX forum. You'll get lots more visibility of your issue there.Gary

Another suggestion: if you pause your flight do the textures ever load properly, or just never at all?Gary

They load but don't seem to load high rez. All the textures around the canyon are very low rez and not sharp at all.
