very very strange joystick issue

Featured Replies

allI installed fsx and fsx accel and have a very strange issue, i am running 32 bit vista and have the most up to date drivers for my joystick (s), one is a logitech fore 3d pro and the other a saitek evoBoth have the same issue. I installed the accel program and the most recent accel sdk.I cannot take off or go up or down with the any input, I can roll, and yaw. all other buttons work fine.I have readjusted the defaults for the controller and all is ok. Here is the strange part, when i fly a mission, it works perfectly, but when i try free flight I cannot takeoff , climb descend ( you get the idea!)I tried to repair etc but nothing works. Is there some section/setting in a cfg file that perhaps is turned off?I just don't get it , I must be have messed with some setting.thanks for you help in advance PeterMy joystick ( i tried two different ones with the same problem,I have no Y axis,Peter K P.EngCF-MMZToronto Ontario CanadaPMDG 747,737and 747FLevel D 767PSS Airbus pro A340-300In reality, a Mooney 201 Pilot

I have the same problem, using a Saitek Evo Force joystick, except in my case it only seems to affect third-party aircraft. I've never experienced it with the MS planes. It only seems to happen after I've loaded my default flight, and then change the aircraft type at that point (sitting on the runway, ready to take off).If I switch to an exterior view of the aeroplane and use the stick it's quite obvious that the aileron and elevator surfaces hardly move, whilst you can see the rudder moving quite extensively. A bodge to overcome it is to deliberately crash the plane (full throttle & try and steer it into a building, tree or whatever, or tip it over with a sharp turn) - after the crash animation finishes the flight resets and at that point the controls work normally again. (I have to crash, because just resetting the flight would put the original aircraft type back again - this doesn't happen if you crash once the "flight" has started). I'm using Vista Home Premium 32-bit system. I haven't tried missions, so only use free-flight mode. PS - I have another Saitek problem, but this is much rarer only occurring once every two months or so. Occasionally, the drivers seem to go missing and the joystick isn't recognised. I've actually put a copy of the driver installer into my "Program Files" directory so that I can easily re-install them if this happens.
