I bought the HSI HD3870 because I was concerned with power consumption and heat production, and both of these are very well addressed by the 3870.Also there are no 8800GT cards left on this Earth. or FutureShop even :-)Problem: Although I got it to install in my WinXP partition, it had problems with my Vista32, which also may be that I have an Nvidia chipset, I think (?... its a DELL...). I did get the display driver installed, manually, but cannot get the CCC in.Errors during install = "Failed to load detection driver"and "Failed to find any installed componets"Anyone familiar with this type of error and its remedy?Otherwise the card is pretty good, quiet, and not too much heat. AND I can get AA working well.NYC is something awesome with both scenery and autogen sliders at very dense, and using UTX. (OS = XP, with acceleration pack)Allen

Find the ATI Tray Tools and use that in place of CCC. Its better and takes up less memory. Works fine with my 3870.http://www.guru3d.com/article/atitraytools/189/

I found it was performing nice in DX10, without that much of a hit,BUT as with the nvidia, all my UTraffic a/c are whitewashed. And I see no need for DX10 previewI'll try AA later but i rarely bother trying out DX10 previewAA worked fine in DX9, vista and xp, but vista rewuired the checking of the AA in FSX, I think...The reason I opted for the 3870 is the power consumption which is about 50% of the 8800GTXAlso it does not heat up the house, (in the summer).I do have acceleration installed on each partitionfps are not as stunning as I'd like, but high quality is constant, with distant detail (meaning no blurries evident for...60 miles?... or maybe no real blurries at all), and I can put sliders for scenery and autogen at very dense in NYC (extreme case, but low fps). So all the custom bridges are always in focus around NYC, no popping into view of objects.allen
