GeForce FX 5200 issue in rendering

Featured Replies

Hi, finally I have my hardware ready.I am running FS9 in two monitors LG with Windows XP SP2My hardware:Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40 Ghz - 3 GB RAMGraphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with two outputs: DVI & VGA, I use each ot them to each monitor.I put FS not in full screen, and I put a cockpit view in each monitor (by creating new view, -forward/right- and then un docking and moving to second monitor. The issue I have is that the elements that need to be rendered like buildings, the aircraft itself,... have a flashing behaviour: the image appears and disappears.QUESTIONS:Am I doing things propely? Is there any setup I need to do with the card or FS9?THANKS

It doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong. I suspect that 2 monitors is just too much information for a single FX5200 to handle. What resolution are you running your 2 monitors?RegardsJim

1680x1050

The max resolution supported by the FX5200 is 3.14 Mpixels, if you're running 2x1680x1050 = 3.528 MPixels, you are pushing it past its limit. On top of that you are trying to draw and render 3D objects so you are invariable exceeding its Vertex and Shader limits too.Looks like you'll need a new graphics cardRegardsJim

So, if I reduced the resolution, should it work? Thanks for the feedback

Try it and see...but you still might exceed the Vertex and shader limitsRegardsJim

>Try it and see...but you still might exceed the Vertex and>shader limits>>Regards>>JimOK just re-read the Spec sheets its not clear whether the 3.14MPixel limit is per output or total for the GPU. If it is 'per output' then your 2 monitors are OK and it is more likely that you are exceeding the Vertex and Shader limits. Hence changing the resolution is unlikely to improve the situation.Changing to a nVidia 7900 GPU would be your best option. If this is too pricey then a 6800 would be OKRegardsJim

get another 5200. They are cheap enough.Search January here at the forums and see how he runs 3 monitors on 3 of those cards. Very well.
