  1. There IS direct connect. Why do you comment on it when you don't know? MP has been perfect since implementing bejotes fixes.
  2. Didn't he have his own forum at one point? The Thomas Molitor of Flightkeeper fame. Thanks, GLB
  3. Dear customer,Thank you for your suggestions but due to budget constraints out team has abandoned work on Flight. You may be happy to hear that after a loan guarantee from the DOE, we have dusted off a favorite, albeit older MS title, and started a complete re-work.MS "Train" will soon be released with an all new track from Petersburg to Richmond VA. This stretch of track is very exciting to us here at MS. We believe that "Train" will provide the following: The development of this sim would employ approximately 11000 people. The sale of the software would create over 349,789 jobs in the United States The installation of this software would take up 500gb of hard drive space on your computer thus creating the need for more imports from Taiwan The commercialization of this simulated section of track is expected to then be unlike any other product ever tried in the industry Reports of the death of MS Flight have been greatly exaggerated. We continue to employ a few of our best engineers in that adventure.Thank you,Brian Harison
  4. How would I know the direction they are going with Flight? Dont put words in my mouth or hijack the thread about whether the game will be good or not. That isnt my point.I pointed out the circle jerk that happens to even get started in beta testing.. Send me to an Xbox site for help? Really? And the site says contact the game publisher? Really? And I'm not the only one to report this. Theres another guy going around in circles too.In addition I can also report the issue on two different machines I have here. One running XP32 bit and another running W7 64 bit. That eliminates my ONE machine as an issue. One machine wont even download it, the other wont install it.And the REAL pisser is that they send me to an Xbox site for assistance. Got to be kidding.Oh and they arnt to happy about this issue over on the beta forums either. I'm pretty sure they've cancelled me but like I said above, I dont give a karp. My alligence lies with the consumer. If they cant get beta testing smooth for a consumer, how do they think they can make a product that a customer would buy? I'd say that about any product.Frankly it should be embarrassing to send a PC user to an "Xbox Connect" site for technical support and then tell them to contact the game publisher..If it wasnt so hilarius....on the Xbox page was a button, "connect to other Xbox users for help in solving your issue". LOL.Make you own opinions as you will. I just repoerted my experiance with the "Beta". Those are the facts as I clicked on them.I really should Youtube this circle jerk procedure before they ban me. LOL. Video doesnt lie.
  5. Me. And I'm speaking for myself from MY experiance with it so far.A few weeks ago I visted the "official" site and signed up for Beta testing. A few days ago I get an email congratulating me on acceptance into the beta program.(let me stop, right now, whoever says that its a vilolation of the "beta" agreement to discuss the existance of the email,,,,, cause I dont really give a rats arse)Ok, now that I have made that clear, I'll tell you that today i logged into the Windows "Live" official site to read what i am supposed to do and download the game. It said I could download the game on as many computers as I wanted. Cool, cause I have both fs9 and FSX on one dual core ddr2 computer that is setup as a simpit with 4 monitors and I have another gaming computer with a 1100T and 16gm ram. That would be nice to compare the two.So i read all the dont do this and dont discuss material and go to the Download page. Download a small 627kb setup file and execute it." INSTALL FAILED"Nice."Please visit our support page for solutions"Ok, I visited. its a frekkin Live for Xbox support page."Connect with other XBox users to see if you can find help"Right, nice, I dont even own an Xbox."Are you having trouble playing a game? Contact the game publisher for assisstance"Lol, Right. So there you go. I give up. They can have this POS karp. Anyone want to know anything else about the Beta? LOL, dont ask me. lololololol. The karp wont even start. aahahahahahahIdiots.
  6. I had CTDS from Fs9 as you described, no certain exact same time or place and eventually fixed the errors on my machine by reviewing the event viewer. There IS a record of what happened. After I corrected the issues, no more CTD. I had about 2-3 things going on. Its a basic troubleshooting technique. The earlier poster had it right. Use event viewer and fix the issue. If you are getting yellow OR red issues, fix them. What else can we tell you? You have to qualify the computer. But if you want to knock your head around trying to find a scenery file or afcad, have at it.Since I corrected each issue, I've been able to fly for over 24hrs and more. Done several around the world trips since. Just no issues. Event viewer is clean.Good luck.
  7. From the CH website:"The Basic Install makes use of the drivers built into Windows and is the quicklest and simplest install." So if you actually did read my first post you would have seen that I addressed the driver question. Pay attention.Dont mislead anyone into thinking that CH has their own drivers for their Yoke, Throttle or Pedals.
  8. ahhh, a forum ######... Move on man. Now if anyone else happens to know a "fix" for a CH product that isn't recognized, please feel free to help me or someone else in the future. Is there a connector that has gone bad? maybe a resister that is blown? How about an easily re-soldered connection somewhere on the board?Or maybe someone has been down this road and the answer is buy a new one? I got good service out of these two and am still getting good service from the CH pedals (8 years I think). Just hate to toss them if something can be repaired without sending off to CH. Not money well invested at this point IMO.
  9. Uh, didnt you read my reply to you post?????????Yes I tried that program. Its useless. I can do everything in windows that that program does. About the only thing of any value was that it told me how many times I had connected the two items that don't work. LOLOLOL. Useless as it does nothing to help me correct the issue. That is just trivia information. For your information there are NO drivers for the CH pedals, Yoke or Throttle. I'll leave you to Google to learn more about that. I'm not going to educate you in the basics of USB devices in this thread.Look, I'm just reporting the facts. ALL of my USB devices worked and then a week or so 2 of them didn't work on a new machine. They do not work on another machine. CLEARLY, another CH product is working on my new box, as well as several other USB devices. If one device works in the USB port and another doesn't, one can surmise that the device is the issue. Especially if the suspect device is plugged into another known working machine. So the question is exactly what is wrong with those two devices. I was hoping someone might step up and comment on the issue as with all of the CH products out there, surely I am not the only one that has this issue. You want to talk about meteorites, its only ME that has a CH product that isn't recognized???????????????? I find that hard to believe under any theory. So someone must have been through this issue with a CH product. Its looking like they are just shot. I got my monies worth out of them over 5 years. NP. and just maybe someone will also learn from this on a future search.I'll post back the CH reply once I get it. That will close the case. Move on.
  10. That is nice and clean!. Well done!!!!!GN
  11. Just thought I'd update this for those searching in the future.I plugged the Yoke and throttle into a laptop with XP. Same issue. Not recognized. So at this point I assume both failed at the same time. I'll contact CH and see if they are of any help.GB
  12. OK. LOL It tells me I have two devices that are unknown. Told me absolutely nothing that I didn't already know. Thanks anyway.Anyone else?
  13. Yoke and throttle units are getting the "USB device not recognized" message. I have the CH pedals and NP with them. Here is what happened to cause this. My old single core box recognized them just fine for years. I built a new dual core box and cloned my entire C drive from the single core box and installed it on the dual core box. I highly recommend this method to any single core users out there. And now I get this message. As I said, the CH pedals work fine, the X45 works fine as well as another couple USB devices that I use for buttons. With respect to drivers, during the installation of the clone back-up, my software loaded the latest MB drivers and after the machine fired up, I have ungraded EVERY driver on this machine. It was a perfect transfer to the dual core. FS9 works beautifully as any of you that have upgraded already know. In fact, EVERYTHING on the computer works flawlessly with the exception of the CH Yoke and the Throttle.I have plugged straight into the MB and then from the front USB as well. I have moved around all of my USB plugs and tried all ports. XP says there are n drivers installed. Yes, I know that there are no CH drivers and that the USB drivers come with windows, which is also completely up to date. What do you think the chances of both of CH products going bad at the exact same time? Do you reckon there is any hope on recovering these units? All I can think of next is to buy Saitek stuff but there appears to be so much problems with their devices I am inclined to just stay with the old X45, which allows me to at least fly.I have Google'd the CH issue but not much on an answer exists.Advice or suggestions for fixing what I have? I'm not ready to give up on them yet. Thanks,Gary B
  14. They're just talking about making a duplicate copy of your existing HD onto a new one. If the drive letter remains the same then you're back in business. BTW, look closley at the HD you are getting, all WD hard drives are not the same speed. The colors designate the speed. You want black, in WD's case.Any good backup program will do to clone the drive. I use Acronis. BTW, you can clone your entire MS installation along with your "C" drive and move it to a new machine if you wanted, with all your FS stuff just the way it is now.Proper defragging is done with one of the many progranms that are designed to for just that. I have one that allows several different methods depending on what type of data retrieval you want. It arranges data on the drive from outside in or inside out of "last accessed". You could arrange all your FS data to be available for the fastest retrieve.Hope this gets you started. Just a matter of picking a good backup software and a good defragger. GLB
  15. yes, I am considering that route. I understand. But at the moment I am using 4 monitors in my simpit. I went ahead and bought a sli capable mb for two 9500's. I hope that i can get 4 different displays from that setup.Surprising that hardly anyone is replying. I suppose not many people run multiple monitors. Very surprising.. for FS.Thanks for all the info.Gary
  16. How are you running 4 monitors off of a video card that has only 2 outputs? Unless you are splitting the same display into identical views. Doubt you are doing that.Sry, but configuration for a simpit with multiple monitors takes precedence over CPU choice IMO. Yes, I realize that Fs is CPU dependent, but I dont have any big plans for FSx. I may not have any need to install it should i accomplish getting FS9 to run at my satisfaction. I am nearly 100% sure I dont need a $1000.00 CPU to run Fs9 the way I want to run it. I'm not going to select speed over 4 monitors. In fact if I didnt run 4 monitors, my old single would run FS9 pretty good. It did before I added the other 3 displays. The entire system is built around the motherboard and its capabilities. Just my opinion.I need a motherboard capable of running 4 displays on a fast interface. Not a 2 on a PCIe and 2 on a PCI card. Thats what I have now (with exception of AGP instead of PCIe) and I'm not going to buy another motherboard to use a PCI display output. Thanks anyway.
  17. I need help with the catagory of a motherboard first. Nothing specfic, just what I should be looking for in features to run 4 monitors.Motherboard advice:I currently have a AGP card and 1 PCI card running 4 monitors. I think I need an SLI to run two cards but was just looking at Newegg and see other MB's with 2 PCIe (x16) slots. This stumps me just a bit as it doesnt mention SLI so could someone please suggest a catagory of MB's that I should start looking with? I prefer to start with a MB choice then build the rest around that. AMD is my preference. Nvidia is also my choice for cards. I prefer no on board video. Sound, I dont care.To be clear, I dont want to setup an SLI system. I want to run 2 vid cards so I can have 4 different "views". If I can accomplish that without an SLI, fine.Mainly I need MB type advice from you good folks to get started. Then see what my wallet can stand for the rest. Thanks,Gary

  20. Ok, cool. Thanks for your attention. Appreciated.GLB
  21. I think its pretty valid. Below are two chips that are quite identical IMHO but have drastically different cache specs, hence my question. The cache stands out, all alse pretty close. Here is the chip that sparked my interest.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819103680as compared to a chip without L3 like this one:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...AIN#detailspecs
  22. Google "permissions fix" or something like that. There is something you can do to fix/reset all the permissions I think. I have been down that once but cant remember. Also, I think you should look at the processes. I think I had to go in and turn on some processes that had been shut down. God knows why.Lastly, and this is a long shot, it is possible that you encountered a spyware download around the same time as you upgraded. For sure, get the free spyware checkers and cleaners out there and run them. Good luck.UPDATE: a simple google reveals below. Google is your friend. Use it....http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316524
  23. Ok, we have know for a long time that Fs is very cpu dependent. So when selecting processors for a new FS build, I see L2 cache and now I see L3 cache. I have read and understand the concept of L2 and L3. No need to explain what either are.So has anyone got an opinion if a larger L2 cache chip,(with no L3), is better than a chip with a small L2 and a large L3? For FS that is. I'll narrow your opinion to only Fs as that is what this computer will be doing. Nothing else.Any opinions or actual users of L3 cache chips? Thanks,GLB
  24. With Sim-outhouse that makes 3. More than co-incidence don't you think?
