Someone with Nvidia 8800 ?

Featured Replies

Hi,I currently have an Ati 3870 and have been having trouble with using FSX in the windowed mode. 3D clocks don't want to kick in (800-1200) and 3870 down clocks to only 300 core on 2D clock. Only reason I use window mode is I run FSC on second monitor and it will not run with FSX in full screen. Wondering if someone with a 8800 series card will test and see if 3D clocks kick in - in the windowed mode? Would like to know for FS9 also. I thought I read on a post that someone said the Nvidia cards would detect 3D in the Windowed mode and get the full 3D clocks.Thank-You,Ted

My 8800GT clocks stay at 3d speed all the time, at least according to nTune. My old ATI X1950XT's clocks stepped up in FSX and FS9 but not in MS TrainSim (running in windowed mode) for some reason. I had to create a profile in ATI Tray Tools that manually upped the clocks then ran MSTS through the profile.Sometimes the ATI cards don't see non-fullscreen apps as 3d games; who knows.

edit:whoops, wrong topic

My 8800 GTS gets the frames per second in both 2D and 3 D modes and has been the only card I have purchased for FS2004 that showed a significant increase in frames-per-second (from about 25% to 300%) depending on situation.RH
