help with video card

Featured Replies

hey there!a few weeks ago my ati radeon 9800pro bit the dust so i had to buy a new video card: now i have a sapphire x1950 pro and suddenly flightsimulator (fs9) turned to a slide show - at default KIAD for example i got 30 to 35 fps with my old radeon and now i only get 4 fps.it's the same for all other games too. could someone help me?

I only run ATI (a 3870) on my secondary PC so I cannot be sure, but I agree that your figures look very low.I'm sure you've already checked, but if not then you might want to ensure you're running at least the 7.10 Catalyst drivers or later (7.11 is now current).Tim Morshead

thank you tim but i've already downloaded the newest drivers. this stuff makes me crazy...

One other suggestion (short of the radical options - re-installing/ re-formatting etc):Find your FS9.CFG file (in %AppData%RoamingMicrosoftFS9). Make a copy so you can restore it if all goes wrong. Then delete the original. When it finds that none exists, FS9 should make a new one. Certainly under FSX, this can sometimes work wonders with sluggish performance, especially after an upgrade, because it forces the simulator to use settings based on a fresh scan of the hardware. Presumably the same is also true of FS9 - although personally I have only tried it with FSX.Tim

Power! This could be a power problem. Have you connected the card directly to the PSU, if so what is the output rating of your PSU? RegardsJim

i'm currently not at home so i'll have to try that on friday or saturday - the .cfg thing could help, that's what i thought of too. regarding the psu - i even bought a new one which offers enough power. still that could be the problem. if the fs9.cfg-stuff doesn't work i'll try a new PSU!thank you so much!! :-beerchug

well...the new cfg didn't change a thing, still i have a slideshow. next possibility is that my motherboard isn't able to run the video card...that's the most expensive solution for the problem. thank you guys!
