Best Graphics Card for FS9 and Vista

Featured Replies

Hi guys... Having tried for nearly 3 weeks with every setting setup possible in Enhanser and Nvidia Control Panel to stop the shimmering in FS9. Plus tried every driver available and every forum's ideas. I'm now ready to bin my Nvidia 8500GT 512MB card!I would appreciate all your comments in relation to the best one to buy using Vista Home Premium 32bit DX 10. My Dell Laptop works perfectly fine with an ATI Radeon so I'm currently inclined to buying a Radoen!PC Info Hewlett Packard m9070Intel® Core Quad CPU 2.40 GHzCurrent Card Nvidia 8500GT 512Mb3.00GB Total Physical Memory

If you want to have very high fps and get an extra free room heater in the bargain for the winter get the 8800GT. But forget about their driver support for AA. IF you can find an 8800GT that is... If you want to save on power consumption, have nicer AA and save money, get the HD3870, although the fps is noticeably less than the room heater. Almost as scarce as the frying pan.If its just for FS9: the HD3850, less than 200$ but with only 256 megs, will do fine, and do the AN right, thus minimizing jello trees, maybe... And these cards are available. But you have the CPU to GPU feed that would allow for the 512 meg card...allen

Thanks for the info Allen. I just want to be able to enjoy my Flight Sim experience without having to go through the grinder with Nvidia settings. I'm based in the UK so I might have a better chance of locating those cards. Also this is a new computer and if I knew what I know now about Nvidia and FS9 I would have made a different choice. Thanks once again for the input :)
