Uninstall Direct X Update Possible?

Featured Replies

Greeting all. Last night I finally got around to installing the Nov 2007 DirectX update from Microsoft. In doing so it has created stutters for me in FSX that i did not have before. Is it possible to uninstall this update and if so how? I tried finding it in the add/remove programs list but it doesn't show up there. I searched all my folders but couldn't seem to locate a DirectX folder of any sorts. I am running XP and I also tried reinstalling my nVidia drivers after trunning the DX update. That didn't help any. And sadly, I did not create a restore point before doing so. Any help/advice would be appreciated. ThanksJim

Just a bump to see if anyone can help.ThanksJim

Jim,They make it near to impossible to remove :-( If you have an older standalone installer that may do it, here's a link to the [a href=http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=b406cf67-d926-463b-99e8-27199d6626b5]June 2007 version[/a] at MS. A google using 'directx redist.exe' will get you other versions too; how you feel about downloading from some of those sites is up to you, caveat emptor ;-) Before you do anything though, check System Restore. MS is actually pretty good in XP about setting a restore point for serious installs such as DirectX.
