February 15, 200818 yr Hi guys,Well, my pc has began causing me problems. While I am using my system, if has started to bring up the error reporting saying windows explorer has experienced a problem, blah blah...Anyways, I have figured I could bombard Microsoft's servers with the same old error report, but now it's only getting on my nerves. After I send the report or just close it, all my windows close and my start bar and icons vanish, leaving only my wallpaper. Half the time, everything will load back as it was before the complication, and the other half it doesnt. My startbar and icons vanish, but instead of returning to the norm, a explorer window will open showing everything on my desktop and the ability to view my drives, etc etc.Personally, Im getting very annoyed. I have run a reg cleaner and 2 anti virus programs and every thing is clean. Has anyone ever had this problem or know how to correct it?Thanks for your help in advance! :-wave Chase Barnett
February 15, 200818 yr Hi Chase,Can you report exactly what error code you get.Goto: Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management. In your event manager should be the code that goes together with your crash.Regards,Davis T.
February 15, 200818 yr Author Hi Davis!Well, I enabled all my startup drivers/devices and I was going to start cleaning it up a little from there. Restarted only to think my system has finally died. With my MB's Award Bios, you get 1 beep from the MB just to let you know that system has booted successfully. This time, no beep what so ever. Normally, my ATI's fan powers on at full speed only to slow down within 10 seconds or so. Now, it just keeps going at full blast and displays a black screen.Basically, my desktop wont boot at all. It's over 3 years old, Im wondering if its time to let it rest in peace or to hit it again with the AED... :-hmm Chase Barnett
February 15, 200818 yr Hey Chase,Ohh my... well thats no good then, but I guess if you were planning to upgrade, maybe this is the right time then, and leave "her" to retire...If it does restart again later, and if you do intend to keep this system a while longer, just report back with the code, and I'll try to help you out anyway.Regards,
February 16, 200818 yr Author Thanks Davis!Sounds like my motherboard took a dump. Who knows. A new system is a little more expensive than fixing the one I have now. Then again, the mb is more than likely gone, and old AGP mobo's are few and far between. I allready feel lost... :-( Chase Barnett
February 16, 200818 yr Yeah Chase,I know the feeling. A new system might be a bit more expensive, but in all honesty, you might be better off starting new, then to fix old at this point, cost vs future. But again, if you stick with your old and need help, just post. ;)Regards,
