Computer Crashing

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,I noticed that just today, my computer would not boot. It goes to the POST screen then crashes. Why could this be?EDIT: I opened the case and found that the Thermaltake V1 heatsink had come loose. 2/4 screws had come loose and the heatsink was not sitting properly onto the processor. Could this be it? If it is, I really hope I have not seriously damaged the processor :(. And it's running at 2.4 GHz again. Is it safe to take it back to 3.2 after fixing the heatsink??? :(

Regards,

BoeingGuy

Could this be it?You bet!! That's not a good thing to happen... at all.If it is, I really hope I have not seriously damaged the processorShould be fine. Modern CPU's are designed to take alot (from us).Get it squared away then test the system at 2.4 Ghz before moving to overclock again.
