January 15, 200323 yr Hi,I have noticed that when I am flying at 10,000ft plus, I can notice that there is a circular limit to the amount of scenery that is textured. It is more noticable when flying over water, I assume that this is a performance thing, what I would like to know is there a way to increase the amount of scenery that is textured around you?.Dan.
January 15, 200323 yr Look in yor FS2002.Cfg file. Scroll down a lil ways, you wil see some lines like this[TERRAIN]TERRAIN_ERROR_FACTOR=1.000000TERRAIN_MAX_VERTEX_LEVEL=19TERRAIN_TEXTURE_SIZE_EXP=8TERRAIN_AUTOGEN_DENSITY=5TERRAIN_USE_GRADIENT_MAP=1TERRAIN_EXTENDED_TEXTURES=1TERRAIN_DEFAULT_RADIUS=75000.500000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_RADIUS=100000.000000TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=0Yours will have different numbers, but same description linesThe last 3 lines there, edit them and that will extend radius from around the aircraft that is renendered sharply. To large though and Framerates will drop hard. Not sure what the values of the numbers are, feet or whatever, but what i have works nice for me.
January 16, 200323 yr Scoochy,Thank you for the post. I tried it with my machine and it looks so much better now. I used to only get the textures almost right below the airplane to show crisp. Now with the settings above, they show crisp all around me except for what is in the distance. Thanks again. I never would have thought of that.Yellow5
