Not me but my new puter.......Although it really smokes FSX and FS9 is off the charts.....I'm affraid its sick....And it is going back....It always had a boot-in problem..It could take three tries sometimes before it would boot..This was after the HDD was replaced and later found a cracked clip on the sata cable that I too replaced...Well we thought that would fix it...But NO.....Not my luck...So we suspected the mem. I tested for hours and it will boot fine with any three gigs but when the fourth is placed it fails to boot..Also it never would wake up from sleep.... So it appears to be the MoBo and is off to be replaced,(They won't let me install it)Warrenty you see....My question is........ With faulty boot issues that are a fact, can this cause any strangs things in FSX..Forinstance ,at times I see my FPS take a real dive,no reason, and have gone to windowed and checked Task Manager..nothing....Could issues like these be a bad boot thing?..And is that possible after I do establish my desktop(booted up)??Thanks for any insight on this...Motherboards are not my thing....Mason

Regarding the Frame rate thing.I used to have a 6800GT 256mbI noticed with my FSX that every 20 secs the frame rate would drop approx 12-15fps.. So in a sparce area it would go from being smooth (25fps) to about 12-13fps. But in a busy area like Heathrow, my best FPS would be 6fps average - to be expected. However FSX would become like a Powerpoint Slide! - well less than 1FPS! - It would do this for exactly 20secs, then back up to best fps (6fps). Stay at best fps for exactly 20 secs then drop again... & so on & so on....You mentioned looking at the task manager & NOT seeing anything else hogging CPU ... well, this was the same for me... yet the frame rate drop was still happening.Anyway... at the beginning of April my 6800GT actually blew!!! - Screen went dead, & a recognisable circuit board 'burnout smell' wafted up.. However i could still hear the HDD doing things, so i knew the system as a whole hadn't died. After whipping out the 6800GT & re-enabling the crappy on-board Graphics, the system was fine again. But i thought i'd test to see whether the FPS see-sawing had stopped with the elimination of the 6800.Despite there being the predicable dropping in FSP in general anyway.. the Problem was STILL occuring...Needing a new GPU anyway, I ordered an ATI HD3870 - Very Nice by the way!.But Also opted to upgrade the PSU as well, as it was only a 450 Watt Job.Well here's the thing... ON removing the PSU & Inspecting it, I have never seen a more cheaply made piece of Shite!!!.. Basically the company who built my Comp, had clearly used very cheap components in places. (hoping i wouldn't notice?) (Thankfully i'd already modded a lot of things, but not the PSU.) The make by the way ... to stear clear of is: Win Power - Some Shite made in China effort! - Ever heard of them???So i bought a much better 'Hiper 580Watt' PSU.. The quality speaks for itself. - www.hipergroup.com/English/products/hpu-4m580.html - Outstanding quality. But guess what! - The Sim now plays as smooth- as... Which hinted that the FPS fluctuations were somehow releated to the quality of power flowing to the Graphics board etc..The moral of my story is at least If nothing else, make sure your Comp has a QUALITY PSU & one that has more than the required Wattage!End of Novel ;-)Hyper

Thanks for that info..Very intesting...I have a ....Power Supply: 750W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition)They tell me this is above good/and enough.....I hope...

Hmm, well this is a head scratcher. As you do indeed seem to have a quality PSU already - Fully functional i trust?Afraid i can't think of much more, other than maybe a Bios upgrade for starters. - But if the MoBo is off for a service / replacement ... Fingers X i guess.BestHyper

Yea..Thanks Hyper..Am hoping that the MoBo will do the trick....But with a week in transit each way and a few days getting tested,repaired..i'm back to my old worn out pent 4 which barely flys FS9 now...Its Cooked.....Fingers Crossed Here...LOL

Thanks for posting this Hyper. I have a P4 3.0 with a 6800GT and have been experiencing the same thing ever since I can remember. I'm just about to buy parts for a new computer and will be getting a good PSU. I think I'll stick the new PSU in the old computer first and see what affect it has.Ted
