October 6, 200817 yr HiWould i probably be unhappy with the frame with if I used an 8600GT vs a 9600gt or 9800gt series card. I would like to run the sim at 1024, or 115x200 with the settings in about the middle. I have been hearing elsewhere that if you want to run FSX decently you would be better off staying away from the 8600GT and spending the extra dollars for the 8800 or above. My target frame rate goal would be at least 10 to 12 on the ground and 15-20 or greater in the air at a reasonable altitude.Any opinions?ThanksZach Bender K7LTF
October 6, 200817 yr The 8800GT is a substantial improvement over the 8600 & 9600 video cards at only a slight cost increase. To realize this advantage, your Cpu needs to up to the task.ArtBiostar TF560-A2+, Athlon 64X2-6000+, 4GB RAM, Geforce 8800GTS-320MB, 500W PSU, 250GB HD, FSX(SP1-SP2), Audigy SE sound, Vista Home Premium 32 bit, CH Yoke & Pedals, 22" WS LCD monitor Art
October 6, 200817 yr Using the FSX 07 benchmark this is was I was getting using global ultra high settings running nHancer at 1600x1200 on a Q6600 @ 3.2, 2GB DDR2 1000 RAM, on a P35 mobo:9800GTX: 20.388800GT: 19.869600GT: 19.45
October 6, 200817 yr That fsx benchmark is found in the avsim download section. It's a 5 minute flight of a CRJ-700 in the VC flying 250 kts about 2,000 or 3,000 ft (not sure exactly about the altitude, but it's somewhere around there) over downtown Seattle, over KSEA, and then out into the country.
