November 17, 200817 yr I see the USB interface has been updated to 3.0 with backward compatibility with USB 2.0 hardware (but not 1.0 hardware like my Microsoft Force2 Feedback Joystick). It's suppose to be 10x faster than USB 2.0. Here's a link for more info: http://www.techspot.com/news/32496-usb-30-...peed-boost.html. Just wondering what, if anything, can be enhanced in FSX with this improvement. I doubt it won't have much affect. I know my mouse, keyboard, and 30" LCD screen are USB 2.0 approved but doubt that will speed up FSX with the new upgrade. I figure an external harddrive will probably be much faster though. Maybe that will help some FSX users in the future.Best regards,Jim

Compared to an internal hard drive with a dedicated serial link (i.e. SATA), access time (latency) is increased. In the world of real time computing (computing in which an input is gathered and a corresponding output delivered in "real time" [i.e. milliseconds]), low latency is crucial. Compute devices (i.e. processors of various types) have dedicated system interfaces designed for high bandwidth and low latency. External connections like USB are designed for high compatibility and bandwidth, but do not provide low latency access. This is why you don't see high-end external central/graphics processors sold.
