July 27, 200421 yr Especially, if most of the necessary modifications(as mentioned earlier) could be put in the main branch(Collision, carrying other aircraft (-> missiles or SpaceShipOne, as desired) there would be no problem with adding another executable, or a plugin (haven't looked at the design too much yet)for "combat mode"I assume that then many people would then like a "nice" starter interface, missions, and so on, but as mentioned, with FG being OSS there should be no problem adding this "high-level" combat stuff in an extra package.
September 30, 200421 yr Hello,i have been a sim fanatic scince the old dos sim cc121,then windows came and it was airwarrior and then european air war,All these sims are combat sims, now i fly il2 sturmovic forgotin battles with the aces expansion pac and it is the best looking simulator i have ever had,but it doesnt have a completely realistic flight model imho... I have been watching the development of flightgear for a couple years and have compiled it on linux and installed it on my windows machine and am very impressed with the fm.I belong to a comunity of simrs that fly and mod these closed scorce simulators, thats not easy, and i think if someone did develope working multiplayer and a couple warbirds you would atleast double the size of productive comunity members, if we can mod closed scorce sim what can we do with this?Asn far as multiplayer probs with people getting vulched goes, stay off my dogfight server lol....keep up the great work on flightgear but how many tinkering, moding pilots just want to fly from pointA to pointB? Atleast lets do some ww1 planes because ive learned that the faster objects cause more lag and jets are boreing to fight anyway.
