what's wrong with Flight gear on Fedora core 5?

Featured Replies

First of all, thx for following me.Flight gear was worked with no problem on Fedora core 1.(but extremely worked slowly) cuz, Fedora 1 didn't work with my VGA card.So then, i set Fedora 5 up into my system to go through it easliy. As my hope, Fedora 5 is working with my system very well. All, devices were fully, perfectly detected!but, Flight gear is just shutted down automatically in 10 sec after starting.what's wrong with it?one more thing is.....i really want to know how to use INPUT/OUTPUToption in Flight gear. All documents mentioned about it little and all same. ( i should read datum( dynamic datum, ex) velocity, altidtude, etc. )) from Flight gear )

( i should read datum( dynamic datum, ex)>velocity, altidtude, etc. )) from Flight gear )I may be guessing, but I think you are asking about ways how to interface FlightGear with other software, or simply accessing FlightGear's internals in general? If that's the case, you may find the following discussions relevant:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=1439&mode=fullhttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=1411&mode=full(these discussions contain references to further resources)

I too have a problem with flightgear on fedora core 5I downloaded the rpm from a mirror posted on the flightgear site,Although I had aglut installed from my fedora repo, flightgear complained that it required aglut >= the version posted on the mirror. The version I have installed was newer, so i used --nodeps to override the missing dependency. however flightgear dies with an errorlike unresolved symbol alut.load.wave.

However, I wouldn't think so:Concerning the first problem, I would recommend to make sure that OpenGL support is properly installed (i.e. by running glxinfo/glxgears).Your problem on the other hand seems to be related to GLUT/OpenAL, thus I would recommend to either check back with the OpenAL docs/mailing list or simply try using the lib version that is required. In general, dependencies can be quite a tricky thing with pre-compiled binaries. Personally, I would always prefer building from sources if at all possible, this is pretty straightforward and basically makes sure that all dependencies are indeed satisfied. Also, you end up with a binary that has been specifically built for your very platform. So, overriding dependencies is generally not a good idea, you should be able to troubleshoot the problem further if you start FG in gdb and/or provide an strace log.

>We won't be able to help you, if you don't provide sufficient>information:>>http://www.seedwiki.com/wiki/flight_gear/h...cfm?wpid=247004>these are all my system's specification. some of them r unkown.Hardware Specs:CPU : AMD Sampron 1800+ (64bit supported)RAM : 1GSOUND CARD : supported by main bord( nforce board ) GRAPHICS CARD : ATI Radeon X 550Software Specs:OS : Fedora core 5Input Hardware:KEYBOARD : US type MOUSE : two-button wheel (ps/2) FlightGear: latest verison for LinuxThese are all i know about the systems...and All devices r all detected by Fedora core 5I do not have futher information because Flightgear is dead before i see the script window. (as soon as i click the fgfs icon, look like it work no problem initially for 5~10sec..but that happen finally) p.s. ( i downloded the flight gear for linux which was listed top one among three ( middle one is for fedora core 2,3,4) mine is core 5, then i downloded that one :~) )And!....My Core 5 required "aglut" too while installing !! ...and, i took it from somewhere in internet by search. then installatioin was succesful.$$ : i am not english oriented man. please understand me , i may mistake in English

I installed the version of openal found on the flightgear ftp server, and I also installed glut from openal's site. All other apps that use open al or glut load just fine, but flightgear 0.99 exits with the following error: GlutSetCursor befor calling GlutInit

All>other apps that use open al or glut load just fine, but>flightgear 0.99 exits with the following error: GlutSetCursor>befor calling GlutInitWell, you seem to be using a broken version of FreeGLUT, so this is not a FlightGear problem. This has been repeatedly reported: you may want to get the latest FreeGLUT from CVS or downgrade your FreeGLUT version.

1) Are you able to run other OpenGL software?2) What's the output of glxinfo?3) Have you tried starting FlightGear from the console?4) Are there any error messages or warnings in the console?5) Have you tried running FlightGear using --log-level=bulk in order to get additional information while starting FlightGear from the console?

I have tried varrious versions of openal freealut, and freeglut. If I revert to the version of open al posted with the fedora flightgear package I get a differant error "unresolved symbol AlutLoadWaveFile"Can you please specify wich versions of openal, freealut, and freeglut I need to get my flightgear going? I have tried many different combinations, and none of them have worked. Thanks, JPS

I gater that the fedora package posted on the flightgear web site was graciously built by Steve Hosgood, is there any way I can find out the versions he was using.
