June 1, 200422 yr Hi guys,I downloaded a Posky 757 repainted in Air Astana colours, however I am not too happy with the tailfin textures.Rather than sit around and moan, I thought I'd have a stab at re-doing them myself. I have got some source photos of real Air Astana tail fins, however I could use some tips on how to "deal" with them. What tool do I use to "cut" them out in PSP 7 and how is the best way to size them and place them over the existing textures (I only need to do the tail, so will just re-use the textures from the download.).Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.
June 2, 200422 yr what i would do is use the polygon lasso tool to "cut" out the tail fin..then set the photo fin layer to multiply.. and align it to the texture by transforming..skewing.. etc..then set it back to normaland flip it and paste it on the other side..and there you have it.. a photo tail ;)
January 25, 200521 yr Hi mate.I`ve just read your reply and I`m having the same problem. (Cutting from bmp image source and pasting onto a fuselage and resizing it afterwards). Can you expand on your answer?(I`m new to repainting and PSP, and part way through my first repaint).om I`m using..DTXPmp to convert filesPSP9Please help.Eddie
January 28, 200521 yr Eddie, cut it out and paste it as a new image. This way you can tweak it. It takes a bit of trial and error to make it fit.Resize it using percentages, then paste on as a new layer to see how it fits. This way you can undo the changes to the image and then tweak it some more.once satisfied, try it in FS.. then tweak as required. January 28, 200521 yr Hi.I think I`ve missed something.I`ve cut out a tail fin from a jpg using "free hand tool selection" / "smart edge.""cut" the image and pasted as a new image, but all I get is the tail fin in another box (chequored background).I can`t get the cut image to my bmp. This is so frustrating. Please help.Eddie
January 29, 200521 yr You'll need to then tweak the tail so it matches the size of the plane. Then paste it as a new layer on the bmp to test it out. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
