August 1, 200421 yr Hi all, I have successfully repainted some of PMDG 737 aircrafts using Photoshop CS, however my reflective skills are completely lacking. I've looked at some tutorials and they are not getting me anywhere. Can anyone here give me some straightup answers on how to make part or all of the fuselage reflective? Thanks
August 3, 200421 yr In a nutshell you need to produce an alpha channel.Basically this is a bitmap file that is 8-bit grey scale, in this bitmap you can control the "shinyness" by the blackness of different parts of the bitmap. So for example if you want a very, very shiny part of the fuse, you paint the same part on the alpha bitmap dark grey. When you convert to DXT using DXTBMP you then import this alpha channel before you save the extended file.If you open some texture files that already have this shinyness you will see what I mean more clearlyDan.
