Please Help! After repainting, textures do not appear!

Featured Replies

Hiya folks!I am VERY new to re-painting airplanes. My first attempt just failed! :(I took one of the airplanes from the "Flight Simulator 9" folder (not one of the defaults). And I opened one of the textures and I "repainted" it using Paint. When I went to Flight Simulator when I was done, and I select the aircraft that I want to fly, the aircraft model appears in the "preview pane" but there are no textures! :'(I tried to do the exact same thing with another airplane, but it doesn't work! Also, some of the texture files on some airplanes (*.bmp) do not show or cannot be opened at all. Don't know why. Any tips!?THANX!

THANK YOU!!!!I will check out the tutorial and get back to you if I have any difficulties! You repaint a lot? What program do you recommend? My first go was at Paint. It was ok, but a bit frustrating since once a texture is in place, it cannot be "undone".THANX anyways! :)Regards,FunkyDude2004

Hi again!I tried the tutorial! Its great! It worked!!!! You're a pal!!!Hey....there's only one thing which is really "boggling my mind" at the moment. This thing about "masks??????". To make the plane shiny? It is mentioned in the tutorial (which I think is GREAT!) but it is very confusing and I can't seem to get around it or to apply it properly.I searched for tutorials that may speak about this, but I may be using the wrong "terminology" in the search engines, being an amateur in airplane design. Might you have any more tutorials in mind which may help with making the plane shiny or reducing the shine or placing shine in only parts of the plane? My whole airplane is shiny! Looks cool actually, but cant see most of the textures :((I currently have Flight Simulator 2004, Paint Shop Pro version 8, and the program that is mentioned in the tutorial (Dxtbmp).THANK YOU! :)
