January 11, 200521 yr I am trying to remove the reflectiveness of a FS2004 aircraft. The aircraft is way too reflective, I want to remove ALL reflectiveness from the aircraft. Is there a way to do this without working with the .MDL file? I've tried messing with the Alpha channel from one extreme to the other and the aircraft went from it's normal state (with the whitest alpha) to looking like it was made out of highly polished chrome (with the blackest alpha). Any info would be greatly appreciated. ThanksJC
January 11, 200521 yr Reflectivity is controlled by the alpha channel, but there is sometimes some specular shine built-in to the model. With the alpha channel, the darker it is the more reflective the surface is, as you disconvered, black is totally reflective, and white is flat and dull. You just need to experiment with it, I have found that an alpha channel of 235,235,235 gives a reasonable amount of reflectivity without looking like its teflon coated ;)Dan.
January 11, 200521 yr DanThanks for the info. From what you are saying I am going to need to have the model specular shine changed since I want no reflections at all. I've emailed Abacus in hopes they will be able to send me an updated .MDL file with no reflections. JC
January 11, 200521 yr Specular shine is not reflection, its more a sheen, but if you want a totally flat model then yeah, you will need it removed.Good luck getting an updated model ;)Dan.
January 11, 200521 yr Just got the reply from ABACUS.. they said they don't have access to the file.Aerosoft had the same issue with they're A-10 and they responded by offering an optional download that would give you a non-reflective aircraft.
January 13, 200521 yr Speculair highlight can only removed via the GMAX source of the model ;-)Non reflective texures are easy just remove the alpha channel or make it white lolAndr André
