ok im currently working on a new paint scheme idea for my next set of repaints. what im asking of the painters community is if anyone out there has a good repaint kit. what im looking for is something with some layers it doesnt have to be quite as good as the beech baron repaint kit by chris klein and bob hayes, but something similar as far as rivets etc having their own layer. ive tried over and over and over and over and just cant seem to seperate a lot of the fine details lol and i kinda stink at shading over for that effect as well. practice makes perfect yes, but at the same time i would really like to get these mustangs done without getting burned out on practicing.thanksJeff a.k.a. Jeff, have you experimented with setting your paint scheme layer mode to "Multiply"? Just making sure..

yes sir i have. i can easily paint over someone elses work, but it just doesnt have that authentic look if you know what i mean. what i ended up doing was using one of the already existing textures as the bottom layer, and building layers on top of that, 1 for light colored rivets, 1 for dark rivets, and so on. rivets I HATE rivets hahaha, hand painted the entire p51's rivets and that was not fun. anyhow, i played around a bit and they came out exactly how i wanted them to. bold enough to be seen, but suttle enough to not overpower the new paint jobs, and still give the effect of detail.my next major challenge is shading, ive never really been too good at that lol, but thats one of the last things im worried about since FS does cast shadows. right now im actually trying to learn about the alpha layer and glossiness etc.Jeff

Hey Jeff :)Yep, I understand. Sometimes what people do is infact make the fuselage an off white colour, maybe a really light grey. They then add the rivets and line hi lights underneath the paint scheme. This means if you painted onto it you would see the rivet hi lights etc.Anyway..If you need any help with anything just post in here, I'm always floating about through these forums.. I'll see if I can help :)If you like extensive paint kits.. you could always try out my AirHead Decathlon paint kit if you haven't already..This is a link to a little site I'm making, tutorials on certain areas of repainting. Many of them are not done.. but the ones that have been may be of some use to you in some way. http://members.lycos.co.uk/mcwdainow/Let me know if they are :)
