July 13, 200520 yr I am confused on proper application of the ERJ paintkit. I made my paint on it, I made it a BMP added an alpha layer in DXTBMP and made DXT3 file, I ovveroad an exsisting texture with this but it turns out gray. Step by step instructions appreciated! Thanks
July 13, 200520 yr Ususally a grey texture means something has gone amiss during the converting process. What happens if you now reopen that bmp again in DXTBmp?Please could you list a step by step of what you did, starting with saving the bmp from the application you used, thanks :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 13, 200520 yr 1) Okay first I saved my texture as a 32bit BMP is Photoshop, The repaint kit also came with an alpha channel in it so I exported that as an 8bit grayscale bmp also2)I opened DXTBMP and loaded in my 32bit texture, and added the alpha chanel from before (it asked me something about converting to 256 bit gray scale? I said yes)3)I saved it as a DXT3 file4)I went into an already established texture (The ERJ xmas texture) and replaced the two necessary files. That didnt work5) I tried just making a 32bit BMP (I dont think it had the alpha channel) and using that also didnt workNow im hereIf I open teh DXT3 in DXTBMP it opens fineThanks!
July 13, 200520 yr Hmm, everything you've done seems fine. Only thing I've never come across is the request to convert it to 256.. it may well not be the problem. Just to be sure, resave the alpha channel in the paint kit from photoshop as a 24 or 32bit and try again :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
July 13, 200520 yr I got it to work now, first I saved the PSD file as a TGA so the Alpha was already in it, then I converted it into 32BIT bmp because apparently the ERJ dosnt like DXTs, worked like a charm thanks! Now I need to get the LDS figured out.
July 14, 200520 yr Glad you got it all sorted out :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
