A Little Help Needed....

Featured Replies

Hiya!I am painting up a Thomsonfly.com (TUI) 737-300 (FFX) I have the masters with the basic livery and stuff ready, but when it comes to put the big red thomsonfly.com logo is where the trouble begins. What I do is I put the logo on as a layer, then I select MULTIPLY on it but when I put it on top of the blue background the red on the titles look really really dark and I can't seem to be able to tone the red down so that it looks like it should, the blue on the fuselage is not a layer anymore so the titles are the only layer I am working on.Can anyone help me out on this, I know the solution is pretty easy but I am not really an experienced repainter so... I am using paint shop pro errr 7 I think LOL I do also have PSP 6.0 LOL I know they are old but I hardly ever use them. Anyways if anyone can help me I will appreciate it Cheers.A330Driver :-hahhttp://www.evoke.co.uk/images/va_logo.gif

You're going to need to merge the two layers, the logo and the blue. If you merge both of them into one then they will multiply onto the base texture :)I'm unaware of the circumstances but always try to keep some sort of original psd with all the layers intact, its certainly saved me a few times over the years! :)

Hi,I use PSP 7 and maybe this can help... even I am not aware of all the possibilities of this program.Have you the same problem when the red layer is the only one to put on the ealier saved repaint ?Or perhaps you could place the red item on the blue and cut it out (crop) so that you become a white area... then apply the red for the second time.Greetz. Jos

Ok, I just thought of a way.. bare with me this is will sound a little odd. This sounds like an already completed repaint you're modding.. if so then do the following. You're going to need the paintkit for this aircraft and the bmp you wish to change.Open up the paint kit and place the base layer over the top of the repaint you're modding.Place the logo you wish to put onto the tail over the top of this base layer. With the base layer selected, press ctrl and click the logo layer (this is how it works in Photoshop, I'm hoping it works in PSP the same way)Hopefully this will marquee the outline of the logo.Invert the selection, I don't know how it is done in PSP.. you can probably search it in the help files if you can't find it.Hit delete, this will make the base layer into the shape of the logo. Change the logo layer to multiply.Thaats a fairly bodged way of doing it.. let me know how it works out.. of if you need any help. :)

Hello! Thanks for the info but unfortunately I have not resolved it yet.Maybe if I post pics of the problem then you will have an idea of what it is.1.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123411.jpgAs you can see I have the base open (fuselage already painted so is not a layer anymore) and then I copied the logo layer (layer 1), note that I haven't changed the layer to multiply yet and it looks kind of messy. 2.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123412.jpgHere I have changed the layer to Multiply and this is how it looks! I want the red to look like in the first pic! but without the white stuff around it.There you go that is the cause of my sleeplessness LOL. now let's hear some Ideas :-hahA330Driver :-hahhttp://www.evoke.co.uk/images/va_logo.gif

The method I suggested above should work..I've just used a POSKY paint kit and painted it blue, then I flattened it. This should be the original state you were in.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123414.jpgI've now added the paint kit used to paint this aircraft, the paint scheme is at the top.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123415.jpgI've now added a random image, removed the white and placed it at the top, above the paint scheme layer.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123416.jpgSetting it to multiply will show the results you have posted.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123417.jpgNow I've merged the paint kit layers and placed it inbetween the logo and paint scheme layer.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123418.jpgWith the paint kit layer selected, I've pressed crtl and clicked it. The layer is now selected. I then inverted the selection.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123419.jpgPressing delete removes the paint kit around the selection, leaving only the piece the size of the logo. Setting it to multiply produces the results to are trying to achieve.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/123420.jpg
