Patterning effect on uniform colours

Featured Replies

Hi fellas.Could someone please tell me how to eliminate or avoide patterning on uniform colours? I've done a repaint of a T-6 for FS9. All good, except there's a pattern effect across the surfaces where the colour is uniform. I'm using Paintshop Pro 8, saving the images as 8-bit Bmps. Any ideas?Cheers,Matthew.

Save the bmps from the program as 32bit and convert to either DXT3 or 32bit using DXTBmp :)

Hi.Ta for the tip. Some progress. Converting to an extented format eliminates the pattering, but also ruins the detail on the texture. Rivits and seams are blured to vertual non-recognition.Can only save the file as an 8-bit image. Any more colours and it won't resolve on the model.Any way of dealing with the detail problem after extending the format?Cheers,Matthew.

8 bit is really not the format you want to convert to, its mainly used for panels. The problem you are describing may be mipmaps, open the bmp up in DXTBmp, on the right there is a box saying "include when saving".. uncheck it.
