Change Pilot Figure

Featured Replies

Could someone advise me how to change the pilot in the attached ,gif. Nice enough chap, I'm sure, but I would like something a little more 'easy on the eye' if you get my drift :) I'm thinking a pic of myself would be nice?KenSomerset, England

The way you can do it is just basically line up all the areas from your face photo to that on the bmp, you're going to need side photos as well.

Thanks for your help. I've just had a look through the fs9/aircraft/pmdg800/texture folder, but I cannot find any side views. Also, I loaded fs9 found the aircraft then brought the cockpit into closeup; swivelled it around, but I could not get a side view. It looks to me that you see the pilots from the front...and that's it?See .jpg attached.Ken

Sorry, I should have worded it better. What I meant was the bmp (image you posted in your inital post) has the head sort of "unrolled".. the bits either side of the head are the side on views of the head. Probably not very important bit just thought I'd include it :)

Hey Franksalot,I haven't done this in a while, but I think this is how you do it!Take the original Bitmap with the Pilot figure and load it into your Painting Program via DXTBmp (Image - Send to Editor) or Imagetool. Create a New Layer and import your replacement picture and paste it on this New Layer, set the Opacity to roughly 50%. Now do some cutting, pasting and moving around to your picture until the Ears, Eyes and Mouth and are roughly in the same position as the original Pilot's. Next set the Opacity from 50% to 100% and save the Bitmap and reload (Image - Reload After Edit) into DXTBmp and convert back to it's original format. Now chuck it into Flight Sim and see how it looks.Don't forget to backup your original Pilot's Bitmap though!Let us know how it goes :)Regards,Stratobat

Hi Stratobat,Thanks for your reply, I have PSP 7 and Paintshop Pro 8 on my PC; but I cannot find anything like DXTBmp in either of them - is DXTBmp something I need to download? I should say that although I have those 2 programs I am not 'proficient' in either of them; just a 'dabbler' really.Ken

>I have PSP 7 and Paintshop Pro 8 on my PC; but I cannot find>anything like DXTBmp in either of them - is DXTBmp something>I need to download?Hey Franksalot,Yes, you need to download DXTBmp.Have a look at the link below - The Download Link is at the bottom of the page.DXTBmp: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/programs/dxtbmp.htmAlso pick up the latest update of the MWGFX DLL package from the link below (You may need them) The Download Link is at the bottom of the page.Latest Set of MWGFX DLL: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/graphix.htm#DownloadOnce you've installed DXTBmp, open the program and have a quick read through the Help Section. It'll basically give you a quick rundown on how the program works and how to set it up. Also, if you get a chance have a look at the Repainting Tutorial on CalClassic. I know your not doing a full on Repaint, but the Tutorial will give you some good pointers on how PSP and DXTBmp work :)CalClassic Repainting Tutorial: http://www.calclassic.com/repaint.htmRegards,Stratobat
