PLEASE HELP !! HOW TO ADD AIRLINE NAME WITHOUT OVERPAIN...

Featured Replies

I really have a problem : I use Paintshop Pro 9, and i really would like to paint my aircraft with my fictional airline name " Air Sao Paulo" .I want to paint the letters very big on the fuselage..but every time i overpaint the windows !! how can i add text to the fuselage without overpainting the windows ?? I thank all of you for your help !!! Skymaster707 :-))

I am not a repaint expert but are you using a layered paint kit or just painting the bmp file? If you are using just a bmp you could try this:open the BMP with DXTbmp and export it to Paint Shop.Create a new layer and put your text on that. Then reduce the opacity of the text so that you can see the windows beneath it. Zoom in to the window areas and use the eraser to erase the part of the text that covers the window. Reset the opacity to 100% then save, import back into DXTBMP then save using DXTbmp. If you are using a layered psd paint kit just put the text on it's own layer then do the same basic stuff as above.I use Paint Shop Pro 8 and am learning new stuff everyday :)Bud

oh thank you very much for your help !! I will try it now and see how i can handle your ideas :-)Thanx a lot !!Mick

I should have added: if you are using a layered kit it would be easier to put the airline lettering layer under the window layer though it may depend on what else is on the window layer. Just experiment and you will get it :)Bud

hmm..how to put the text under the windows ??I really have no idea..how to..Mick

If its unlayered (which it sounds like it is) You'll have to use the magic wand or just simply the marquee tools to cut the windows into the text.

Hmm.. i am sorry that i did not explained in a better way.I made a selection of text out of a photo , pasted it as new layer on my fuselage..than the problem is that the text is also over the windows of the fuselage. Hmm..so any idea how to paste this selection on my fuselage behind the windows...? Because using the eraser tool ..hmm, for me it is not very "clean way" to erase just the window areas..i alwyas erase also some text.. is there a possibility to paste a selected text as new layer on my fuselage behind the windows so i don t have to use this eraser tool ?Oh thank you very much for helping me and making you stress!!mick*******Skymaster Airlines Boeing 707**********

If I read correctly, what I said still applies.Heres an example of what I mean.. excuse the simple approach. The black boxes represent your windows along the fuselage. In this image you can see the text covers the windows.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135247.gifIf you use the marquee tool in the program you are using to make a selection of your window.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135248.gifThen if you have your text layer selected (and it is rasterised) just hit delete.. and it'll remove that particular bit from the text.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/135249.gif

Are your windows on their own layer?Bud

hmmm..own layer ?hmm..i just tried to erase the paint from the windows with the tool..but this is really hard and long way to do so..because my airline name is over the windows and i can not see them through the text..so i have to try until i find a window and then erase the text from it.But it is hard to do so and often i remove more than just the window area..also some little area around the window frame..It is possible to take the fuselage from an aircraft and put it in another " area" than the text ? So maybe the windows are in front areaand the text will be put behind the window area so i don t have to use the erase tool ?very sorry for my bad explanation of my problem and the bad english :-)Mick

You need to add a new layer (check out my tutorials site for help with layers) then place the text on this new layer, this will separate the two.
