Reflective/matt textures

Featured Replies

Hello, i'm new to repainting, and one of my discoveries is, that some aircraft do not have refective textures, just a matt finish, and when I add an "alpha" it turns the plane "semi transparent" instead of shinyIs there a relatively simple way to add reflective textures, to planes built this way?Thanks........Eddie

In short, unfortunately not.Its likey this is an older model (pre FS2002?) or the modeller hasn't set it up. When creating the plane in GMAX (or similar programs) the modeller specifies if the alpha channel tied to a perticular part controls either the reflectivity or the transparency. In this case the modeller has defined the alpha channel to control transparency.. which is what you're experiencing now.

Thanks for your answer, its what I suspectedOne more question, how can I get a reflection on otherwise clear windows, the planes have reflective textures, but the windows let let them down, like there's no glassCheers, Ed

If the windows literally have not been modelled then I'm afraid its the same story. In the texture folder is there any mention of maybe a "window.bmp"? If there is then you could try applying an alpha channel to that.. but otherwise I don't you're going to be able to do it, sorry!
