Repaintin PMDG 747-400F

Featured Replies

Hello all Well I have reapinted the 400f from PMDG and everything was going good until I noticed that the PDMG CARGO was under the nose of the aircraft so I went into the decals.psd and added my own text then saved the file as normal but when I went into the game the colors were all wrong but before i had even messed with this file i had no visual problems here is what i mean.....this link is what it looked like before i messed with the decals.psd file http://www.mgwelding.homeip.net/mimg/12a.jpgThis link is what it looked like AFTER i messed with the decals.psd filehttp://www.mgwelding.homeip.net/mimg/12.jpgDoes anyone have an idea what i am doing wrong I am sure it is me because i have seen other repaints with no problem Thanks to all who reply.

It looks like theres shading and a gradient missing from the psd that was present before. Not entirely sure what that grey bit on the left handside of the nose is. Could you possibly take a shot of the psd before you did anything and then after?

The psd file had two layers in it one was the background which is grey and has various detail in it and one was a text layer.after I posted here i looked at some of the other repaints and i noticed that everyonelse's paints had the nose done with there various logos or text but they did not have the porblems i had for example the EVA AIR repaint has a green bottom half there nose is green with there logo. The KLM repaint has no logo on it so I simply copied there decals.bmp file and placed it in my folder and now i at least have a repaint that looks like image one above. I think it might have something to do with the way i am saving the file. After I have changed the text I flatten the image then save it as a TGA, Then I use DXTBMP to open the file and save it as 888-8 file. Thanks

Have you compared your decal bmp with one that doesn't have the problem? That bit of grey on the left of the picture is a little strange as well. Have you perhaps not removed the mip maps when saving? Doubt its that but having never painted the PMDG 744 I'm all out of ideas. :(

Yes i have compared two of them togethter but only in DXTBMP. opening up one of the other decal files only shows me a bmp in photoshop it does not show me any layers or how the layers were saved. That bit of grey is part of the wing it is unaltered from the original PSD which is located in the wings.psd not the decal.psdHave you repainted the PMDG 747-400? If you would like the PSD files let me know or you can get them from PMDG then you can see exactly what i am talking about Thnaks for the help.

Ok I did a little investigating :)For some reason the bmp appears to have a really strong alpha channel (100% black) which could not possibly relate to the reflections. Have you applied this alpha channel to your decal bmp?
