December 10, 200619 yr Downloaded a Midwest DC-9 from Simviation (hangs head in shame). It comes up on FS2000 OK, but unpainted. If I try to look at any of the bmp files in texture, they come up as "drawing failed"Downloaded DXTBMP, but I'm not sure what to do with it.Any suggestions would be appreciated.ThxDave (newbie)
December 10, 200619 yr Did you really mean FS2000? As in the one before FS2002? (sorry.. just making sure) Is the model built for FS2000? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 11, 200619 yr Yes FS2000 - I'm a CFII and it serves my needs perectly and it's paid for :-) I'm taking a Midwest (Express to me) trip shortly, and I thought it would be fun to load their livery.Anyway, the Simviation description is:"McDonnell Douglas DC9-10 in Midwest Express colors for FS2002 and FS2000. This aircraft was designed with FSDS and is my first attempt at design and texturing. It features a 40 sided fuselage, 40 sided engines, night lighting, and control surface and gear animation. Model and Textures by Charles Dayhuff. Airfile by Sam Chin. Also includes a DC9 panel designed by Jim Waters. Pilots designed by David Eckert. Aluminum engine textures by Erick Cantu. 3.6MB"Some fuse colors (blue) come up correctly as bmp in texture, but when loaded into 2000, the ailerons come up blue, the rest of the a/c is gray (not silver, just uncolored).I fiddled around to try and see what was unique about the ailerons, but no joy.Any help would be appreciated. Dave
December 11, 200619 yr From what it sounds like, you've guessed correctly at it being something to do with the format of the bmps. I just downloaded it and although it shows up in my FS2004 fine.. that doesn't really prove much as you're trying it in FS2000. The format the fuselage bmps (and probably the others) are DXT1. Perhaps coverting them to 24bit or 32bit for example might make them work. Back up the texture folder and open one of the fuse bmps in to DXTBmp, then simply go to Save As under file and pick 32bit from the drop down list and hit save. If that doesn't work then report back here and we'll do some more investigating :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
December 11, 200619 yr THanks for the response - I tried one of the files which shows up as colored in DXTbmp. My shareware version of PSP only lets me save to 24 bit, but the panel still doesn't show painted when I load the program.I'll try a few more files, but I think the writing is on the wall.THx again.Dave
December 12, 200619 yr DXTBmp is the program to use to convert bmps from one to another. If you open the bmp inside DXTBmp then go to file - save as you can select the drop down to select the file format. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
