February 19, 200719 yr I am attempting to do a repaint on my PMDG 747F. I am using 2 sets of repaints that are already working in FS9. But when I use paint shop (can't get the hang of photoshop) the images display fine in windows explorer but the textures are not shown in FS. I haven't a clue what I'm doing wrong because all I am essentialy doing is copying and pasting the images onto a template. I could do with some pointers.
February 19, 200719 yr Welcome aboard :)Flight Sim does not support raw bmps for aircraft textures and they need to be converted in order to display correctly inside the sim.Have a quick read here, hopefully this will help: This is also a page from my walkthrough on the same stage:[link:members.lycos.co.uk/mcwdainow/tutorials/complete_walkthrough/creating_structure/creating_structure_fltsim.htm]Click My Complete Walkthrough (found following the link above my sig) is actually made using Photoshop.. so you could always give that a go. In the early days I used Paint Shop Pro, decided to mingle with Photoshop and never looked back :)Edit: I forgot to mention.. feel free to ask away on here.. I'm usually about, if not me I'm sure someone else will help you out :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 20, 200719 yr Thanks for the help. I've managed to get the textures to show in FS however the textures on the tail are very blurred. They show up fine when I select the aircraft in the menu but by the time it loads the textures on the tail are screwed. What's am I doing wrong?
February 20, 200719 yr In DXTBmp, on the right of the screen you should see a little preview of the alpha channel. One labelled "Include when saving".. make sure that is unticked. This is to not include mip maps on saving.Make sure to use a fresh bmp out of your paint shop as reconverting it will lose quality :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
February 21, 200719 yr Fancy posting a shot? Would be great to see!Glad you're all set.. as I said, if you have any more questions feel free to fire away. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
