overland paint

Featured Replies

ok i painted an overland 773er. I used the paintkit and it looks like one long fuselage with the tail attached, but in the texture folder the fuselage is split into sections. How do I get it into the split format?Thnx Ed

Just cut the thing into pieces ( mind the marking-points) and paste them in their proper positions (use the marking-points again to determine the exact position) on the different fuselage and tail BMP`s.Do not forget to save the altered BMP files to a DXT-format using DXTBmp. If you do not convert to DXT the plane will appear totally grey in FS.The best way to handle the BMP files is to open them with DXTBmp and export them from there to your paintingprogram.Import the changed textures into DXTBmp again and save to DXT3 or 32 Bit.(uncheck saving with mip-maps)Using this procedure all alpha-layers will stay undamaged.Leen de Jager

The named files in the paintkit should look the same (partial or full sections) as the files in the texture folder. I don't have this FS2004 payware model but downloaded Overland's paintkit.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/171826.jpg

Thanks for the tip. Cool. I don't have this model but the repaint method looks interesting and fun to do. Maybe I'll get to try it some time.
