August 11, 200718 yr Hi Gang.I'm just starting to get into the joys of painting aircraft, and while I am thoroughly enjoying it, I'm getting hung up on a few points.I have both the Wilco CRJ200, and Legacy business jets, and I like flying them so much that I decided to do a re paint for them.I downloaded the kits, and started to work on them. (I make back ups of all of course)but, the paint kits don't contain the engines and wings, so when you fire up FS9 it looks weird. So, I decided to just try and re-paint a downloaded scheme that I got from Avsim, and transform it in to my colours instead, but what a time I have had.I can't seem to paint round the windows very easily, the same for the doors etc.and when I open the files in FS Repaint, which then opens up the textures in PSP8, I can see all the different textures which is great, but they are not layered at all, it's all one layer and this makes it very very difficult to work on.is this the way that you guy's work !thanks in advance for any tips. Steve. Unlike the British Government, I actually Learn from my Mistakes.......... Windows XP Professional SP3, ABIT IC7 MAX3 MotherBoard, Intel P4 3.40GHz HT, 4Gigs RAM, Hercules Digifire Sound Card, Geforce 7800GS 512RAM Graphics Card, FS9.1, REX, ASv6.5, GE pro.FE.
August 11, 200718 yr " Newbie to painting, so don't bite my head off."That's not going to happen unless someone here chooses to be rude.I can't be of much help because I don't recognize either aircraft in the absence of filenames or suppliers. Wilco is perhaps the payware supplier?"is this the way that you guy's work?"Pretty much, but my FSRepaint assigned, external editor is PhotoShop. FSRepaint only converts the texture to a 24 or 32bit file for editing in the external editor. Layered paintkits are a different item. The 'window' thing is entirely dependent on how the model renders them.I just made a paintkit for SMS's MD-11 (using another repaint as there is no official paintkit) and simply copied and pasted other windows over the windows which had paint around them. The pasted windows are still see-through in daytime, dusk or night. This will NOT always be the case.Have fun.
