Repainting dds textures, help please

Featured Replies

Apologies if this subject has been covered before but I searched this forum and could not find any references. Can someone tell me the steps required to repaint dds textures using Paint Shop Pro and DXTBMP ?All I get are black textures when I take what seems to be the obvious route.Any help appreciated.

There are still some unsolved problems with DXTBmp regarding the saving of dds files. (maybe on my system only , I simply do not know, wrote about this to Martin Wright)This moment I work like this.Original file>>>FSRepaint>>>>>tga file>>> Paintshop>>>tga file >>>Imagetool>>>dds dxt5Always save to dds dxt5 wich is only 1 mb (at 1024x1024)DDS32bit is four times as big and gives not a visual better quality.Working this way the alpha does not get lost.Make sure to use the latest version of Imagetool. Its in the SDK for FSXLeen

Update!!!The latest BMPdxtx.exe (self-installer version 4.00.95) available on Martin Wright`s website gives us a perfect working DXTBmp capable of handling all dds files needed for FSX.( and all other FS texturefiles )A great tool. Thanks Martin.download here:http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/dds>>>DXTBmp>>>Paintshop>>>DXTBmp>>>ddsI wroteOriginal file>>>FSRepaint>>>>>tga file>>> Paintshop>>>tga file >>>Imagetool>>>dds dxt5that was not correct it should read:Original file>>>DXTBMP>>>>>tga file>>> Paintshop>>>tga file >>>Imagetool>>>dds dxt5

Thanks for the replies, very helpful !:-) Bob.
