Using Dash 8 with Project Magenta glass cockpit??

Recommended Posts

Guest David Lee 2

I fired up the Dash 8 for the first time in a long time and had forgotten how good it is! Problem is now I have a home cockpit with Project Magenta's RJ glass cockpit and I would love to use the more complex AP. I tried stripping out the Dash 8 AP and replacing it with the King Air, thinking that would give me the simplified AP that tends to work well with PM software. Unfortunately the AP will not engage and it seems to blink on and off like it is fighting the software somehow. Anyone done this successfully or have any suggestions? Thanks!David

This isn't easy to do. The "housekeeping" code in the panel gauge programming includes a recurring call to the FS control that turns off the FS autopilot, which is generally good programming practice to preclude the FS A/P from conflicting with the custom one in the panel. To make it stop you have to either patch out the offending calls in the PSS gauge files, or (better) trap and filter the control calls going to FS from the gauge. I wrote a dll that diverts control calls on the FS side to do this selective filtering, but it's still a bit buggy, and with PMSystems making its debut, I see little future in trying to combine add-on panels like the PSS and PMDG ones with Project Magenta.CheersBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC
