you cannot manually tune the ILS freq in the PSS Abus. you must enter the runway into the flightplan and allow the Abus to tune the NAV radios itself.when you turn into final engage approach mode on the MCDU, press the ILS button, then the LOC button, then the APPR button.much discussion about this in the forum. do a search using the following terms: ILS, approach.--

Once you have the arrival runway set in the F-PLN page of the MCDU it is worth doing a check of the RAD NAV page to make sure that the correct ILS freq is showing at line select key 3 left. As well as displaying loc and g/s guidance in the PFD the ILS button puts the ILS info into the bottom left of the PFD. If the ILS has been picked up properly you should see the identifier, frequency and distance once you are close enough. LOC should be pressed below 7800 feet (I usually do this about 3000 feet depending on the approach). The APPR button should be pressed when the glideslope indicator is one dot above the centre. One of the 'undocumented features' of the MCDU is that if you enter the ILS freq manually into LSK1L of the RAD NAV page it doesn't always pick it up. IF you are doping an autoland it is good practice to enter the ILS freq into LSK1R for redundancy and that does get picked up. But LSK1L is more problematical.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk
