A330 Waypoint FlyOver

Recommended Posts

Changing the next waypoint distance........Is there any ability in the PSS A330 series to alter the distance from a waypoint at which the FMS changes to the next one. EG On some STARs with the Waypoints close together, it is not Flying Over the waypoints it is changing to the next about 1Nm out from the current one. This posses some problems especially if Parallel Runway Ops are in progress and the FMS doesn't fly over each waypoint.Any suggestions?

The point at which the turn starts is set in the gauge file and cannot be changed. You might be able to help this though by adding in additional PBD (Place/Bearing/Distance) fixes. Is there a particular STAR where you are having a problem? If you wish to overfly a particular waypoint you press the [/b]OVFY[/b] overfly button on the MCDU and then the left key next to the waypoint/fix. It will then put a green triangle next to the waypoint/fix. However the only way to delete the overfly (if you decide you don't wish to overfly the waypoint) is to delete the waypoint and create a new one.In the example below I have put the overfly at the MY waypoint.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180873.jpgRob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk

Rob, Thanks for the point out on the OVFY key. To be honest I have never noticed it and not seen it in the manual. That isn't to say it isn't there, I just haven't noticed it.The ability to OVFY is what I was looking for at this stage. If this doesn't fix my problem I may look further. I know of a payware FMC that allows the parameters to be changed in a config file, which inlcudes the distance before the acft trks the next waypoint.Anyway, a huge thank-you as I think the OVFY will work.

Rob,Thanks mate. I test flew another one of the tight STARs into Sydney using OVFY and the tolerances were much better. I am more than happy with it now. Thanks for your help,
